Introduction to the Comprehensive Dumbbell Training Course

Dumbbells are one of the THE essential free weights in virtually every gym and health club around the globe. But are you making the most of them? Do you know 300+ variations of commonly used exercises? Or are you just doing the standard (dull) shoulder press, bicep curls, tricep kickbacks etc like every other average trainer?

The best Instructors and Personal Trainers know how to use every piece of equipment in their training facility to its maximum, and know what every little variation or tweak will cause from a kinesiology persepctive. Are you one of these trainers already, or do you want to be?

Our Comprehensive Dumbbell Training Course doesn't teach you how to do a kickback or a lat raise, because you should already know that! This course covers more progressions and exercise variations using the Dumbbell, for functional and strength training gains, than you can shake a stick at.

Comprehensive Dumbbell Training Course Aims

The Aim of Comprehensive Dumbbell Training is to provide a comprehensive overview for fitness professionals of the background and practical application of Dumbbell Training.

Objectives : By the end of the course attendees should be able to:

1. Understand the theory of how Dumbbells integrate with other equipment and methodologies of training.
2. Understand the safety considerations and contra-indications associated with Dumbbells.
3. Learn hundreds of exercise variations and progressions for Dumbbell Training and how to select exercises appropriate for different methodologies of training (strength/functional).
4. Understand how some of the technique tweaks will affect the kinesiological adaptations.
5. Programme safe and effective Dumbbell sessions for individuals or groups.

Assessments:

Theory - Completion of Post-Course Exam demonstrating understanding and applied knowledge.

Comprehensive Dumbbell Training Entry Requirements

To qualify for REPs CPD, attendees should possess:

- Level 2 Fitness Instructor or Group Exercise Trainer Qualification minimum
- Valid REPs membership

This course is open to those not meeting the entry requirements - fitness enthusiasts, strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists and instructors not on the Register of Exercise Professionals, but will not be able to use the course as REPs CPD.

National Occupational Standards

This course is mapped against National Occupational Standards:

- D410 (Plan & Prepare a Gym-Based Exercise Session)
- D411 (Instruct a Gym-Based Exercise Session)
