Introduction to the Olympic Lifting Instructor Course
Olympic lifting forms an integral part of the strength and conditioning programmes of many athletes from a wide variety of sports. If you work with athletes from swimming to shot putt, rugby to rowing, then being able to teach and apply the Olympic lifts and modified lifts to your clients will greatly improve their performance. This course covers all of the pre-requisite exercises, the Olympic lifts (Snatch, Clean and Jerk), the modified Olympic lifts and the Olympic Pulls.
This course will teach you the history, benefits, terminology and correct techniques of the Olympic lifts and variations. You will learn how to gradually develop your clients athleticism and speed strength using this form of training, and how to test and implement a sound resistance training programme.
Olympic Lifting Instructor Course Aims
The Aim of ‘Olympic Lifting Instructor’ course is to provide a comprehensive overview for fitness professionals of the background and practical application of Olympic lifting.
Objectives : By the end of the course attendees should be able to:
1. Understand the correct terminology for the Olympic Lifts, modified lifts and the pulls. 2. Understand the safety considerations and contra-indications associated with Olympic lifting. 3. List the benefits of Olympic lifting as part of a well-rounded and appropriately periodised resistance training programme. 4. Demonstrate a basic technique for the Hang Power Clean, Split Jerk and Hang Power Snatch exercises. 5. Apply progressions and regressions to the Clean, Jerk and Snatch exercises. 6. Show a basic understanding of how to include Olympic lifting exercises within a resistance training programme.

Olympic Lifting Instructor Entry Requirements
To qualify for REPs CPD, attendees should possess:
- Level 3 Advanced Instructor or Personal Trainer Qualification minimum - Valid REPs membership
This course is open to those not meeting the entry requirements - fitness enthusiasts, strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists and instructors not on the Register of Exercise Professionals, but will not be able to use the course as REPs CPD.
