Hormonal Profiling
About this service

Hormonal Profiling is a revolutionary new service in the field of functional medicine and exercise science. This service is based on the 'Biosignature' concept, developed by world-renowned strength coach Charles Poliquin.

Hormonal Profiling is based on the theory that hormonal imbalances can be observed and detected through Bodyfat distribution analysis. Simply put, where you store your fat can tell us, what hormonal imbalance you have. A particular hormonal imbalance will be seen as an unusually high accumulation of body fat in a particular area. For example, Insulin imbalance (or resistance) is seen as a proportionally high reading just above the side of your hip. High Insulin resistance is what is seen in type 2 diabetes, and is a major risk factor for heart disease.

What Hormones can be tested?

Hormonal Profiling can give you an indication of:

Androgens (i.e. Testosterone) - Important for males and females for growth and repair.

Estrogens - Critical for female health and healthy body composition.

Insulin - How tolerant are you to carbohydrates and are you eating too many, leading perhaps to insulin resistance.

Growth Hormone - Essential for repair and growth between training sessions, and can also give an indication of sleep patterns and liver health.

Thyroid - This hormone is critical for optimum metabolism. Are you one of the millions of people suffering from low thyroid function?

Cortisol - This hormone gives a direct reflection of one's stress levels and their ability to handle it, a critical factor for all individuals looking at losing fat, bulking up, or just feeling healthy.Many people are unaware of the importance of good hormonal control for goals like weight management. Ever wondered why you store fat on your triceps (the back of your arm), the so called 'bingo-wings', and no amount of triceps exercises ever seems to reduce it? How is a Hormone Profile achieved?

Hormonal Profiling involves taking multiple skinfold readings from around the body. These skinfold readings are then compared with each other and against ideal scores to calculate any hormonal imbalance. We can also calculate your overall Bodyfat, but this is of secondary importance in relation to your hormonal profile.

What do I do with the results of my Hormonal Profile?
